biography

a fascination for cinematic soundscapes and the electronic music provided in amiga-games led to the discovery of techno and rave in the early nineties and eventually breakbeat, hardcore and jungle. in 1995 dj toon's love for music finally grew too strong for him to remain a consumer and he purchased his decks, taking up mixing seriously.

always looking for a certain warmth in the technical structure of the music, dj toon is on a constant look-out for melodies and feelings in the tracks he plays. aware of the multiple faces the music can present, he always has a strong eye on the dancefloor, constantly merging emotions with physical force. one one hand, with an interest in virtually any form of sonic culture, he is always searching for the next tune to bring tears to your eyes while on the other hand, in the right mood, he can mash it up pretty nasty, too.
dj toon's productions carry a distinct rhythmic playfulness, always maintaining a strong love for breaks in their various forms. his tracks have so far been released on boogie man records, with upcoming new releases on think recordings.

apart from playing gigs all over switzerland, dj toon has been djing in berlin (wmf), barcelona (torres de avila), budapest (gellert), bali (doublesix) and is also a resident of the weekly drum'n'bass show "density" on the radiostation radio x (94.5 fm).
